Johanna Pettersson Fürst

I am currently a Researcher at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. In 2020-2022 I was a guest researcher at Nijmegen Centre for Border Research, Radboud University. I am an affiliated researcher at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs since 2018.

My research focuses on issues relating to sovereignty and policies aimed at regulating and controlling state borders. In November 2018 I defended my dissertation What's in a Line? Making Sovereignty Through Border Policy

My current project is about the use of internal border controls between Schengen member states in the EU, and the relation between national sovereignty and European integration.
